NOTE: The first four units must also be tested through
comprehension passages to assess critical reading, critical thinking and
writing skills. These four units will cover all literatures in English.
Unit –V: Language: Basic concepts, theories and pedagogy.
English in Use.
Unit –VI: English in India: history, evolution and futures
Unit –VII: Cultural Studies
Unit –VIII: Literary Criticism
Unit –IX: Literary Theory post-World War II
Unit –X: Research Methods and Materials in English

UGC NET
UGC-
NET is an eligibility test for ‘Assistant Professor’ as well as ‘Junior
Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian Universities and
Colleges. It is being conducted in 83 subjects, at selected cities across the
country by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode
twice in a year in June and December.
Eligibility:
Ø General/Unreserved/General-EWS
candidates who have secured at least 55% marks.
Ø OBC-NCL /SC/ST/
PwD/Third gender category candidates who have secured at least 50% marks
(without rounding off) in Master’s degree or equivalent examination are
eligible for this Test.
Age Limit and
Relaxation:
Ø JRF: Not more than 30
years as on 1st day of the month in which the examination is concluded i.e. Dec
1st or June 1st (Relaxation of 5 years is provided to the
candidates belonging to OBC-NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third gender categories and to women
applicants.
Ø Assistant
Professor: There is no upper age limit in applying for UGC-NET for Assistant
Professor
Pattern of
Examination:
The Test will
consist of two papers. Both the papers will consist of objective type, multiple
choice questions. There will be no break between papers.

Declaration of
Result:
The number of
candidates to be qualified (total slots or Eligibility for Assistant Professor)
shall be equal to 6% of the candidates appeared in both the papers of NET.
